Infrared detected fake Whiteley: court - Yahoo7

Infrared photos of two Brett Whiteley paintings allegedly faked by an art dealer and painter show sketches that can't be seen by the naked eye, an expert says.

Art restorer Mohamed Aman Siddique and dealer Peter Gant are on trial in the Victorian Supreme Court on charges of obtaining and attempting to obtain financial advantage by deception by selling fake Whiteley paintings for millions.

"Once you've looked at the infrared images you can see very faint drawn lines there," paintings conservator Vanessa Kowalski told the court on Friday as she indicated where on Blue Lavender Bay and Orange Lavender Bay the lines had been detected.
